What Will We See In The Coming Year?

Well, 2020 is almost behind us and it’s time to move forward into the new year, and what better way to inspire yourself than with some kitchen ideas that will be rising in popularity.

Charging Drawers

With families having so many handheld and mobile devices there is always a demand for premium charging space around the home. Not only that but with all the different cables and table or shelf space needed to rest your devices while getting charged, there can be quite a bit of clutter. We have seen a few clever solutions to this problem over the last year but far and away is the charging drawer. With mom using the kitchen island and everyone doing homework at the bar counter space and outlets are at a premium in the kitchen, but with a charging drawer everything moves out of site. A dedicated drawer with built in outlets, USB ports and plenty of space for cables and devices is something we always love seeing in a modern kitchen and expect this design idea to really take off in the coming year.

Green Cabinets

Blues and darker green colors are growing in popularity for use in the kitchen over the last year and 2021 will be no exception. Post-recession we saw a lot of the same colorless kitchens and blue was the big color to come back, with homeowner’s design tastes expanding, we expect to see the darker green shades take the spotlight post pandemic. This look can be seen all over Instagram and Pinterest right now and we expect the idea to take hold and continue being a prominent color in kitchens across the valley. Not ready to jump in with a full green cabinet design?..these green shades can make a great accent color for your kitchen island or trim.

Touchless Faucets

With all of us becoming very used to washing our hands and sanitizing and not touching things afterwards, it only makes sense that our kitchen habits are changing too. As a result, expect to see more homeowners adding touchless or sensor-based faucets to the kitchen. They are easy to use and often more affordable than you might think. These faucets reduce the spread of germs and help conserve water in the kitchen. Some are even voice activated and Alexa enabled, dispensing precisely measured amounts with the sound of your voice. “Alexa, pour 1 cup of water” no measuring cup needed, now that’s a trend we can get on-board with.

Swing-Arm Lighting

This one comes straight from Houzz and we think its great. We have seen all sorts of wall décor over the years but what about something functional that can also look good gracing the walls of your kitchen. Sconce lighting on an adjustable arm not only looks great but can be a practical task lighting solution around your sink or stove areas. This one is here to stay.
