A Modern Look For A Dated Oak Kitchen
We recently helped a local Boise homeowner with their kitchen remodel, refinishing their hardwood floors and their old oak cabinets. This transformation is as striking as the many, just like this, we’ve been doing this summer across the Treasure Valley. Follow along as we walk you through our kitchen cabinet refinishing process.
Here’s where this kitchen began. Orange looking oak cabinets, that have never been refinished since they were installed sometime in the 90’s. We will be doing an opaque color change on these cabinets.
Removal & Prep
The homeowner decided to add hardware to help create a new look in their kitchen. Here you can see we’re measuring and drilling holes for the handles and drawer pulls before removing the cabinet doors.
Painting Cabinet Doors
With the doors removed, we spend several days in the shop, caulking, grain filling and of course refinishing the doors with a new cream color.
Custom Effects
We are doing some custom work on these doors to create the exact look the homeowner wants. Dylan is adding some dark lines to the recessed area creating a nice glazed look.
Cabinet Boxes
While all that was going on, another of our technicians was back at the house sanding and refinishing the cabinet boxes in the new color. All that’s left now is to get everything reinstalled.
Time For Installation
With all the doors and drawer fronts refinished and back at the house, we get started putting everything back together, adding the handles and drawer pulls.
