It happens to the best of us. No matter how careful you are, eventually, your cabinet is going to get stained. Whether it’s from a kid with messy fingers, a dog who just rolled in mud, or any number of other scenarios. It can be super tricky to remove stains from cabinets though without causing damage. To help you get the job done on your own, give this cleaning solution from HGTV a try.

The Solution

First, you’re going to need to get some ingredients. Don’t worry, you won’t be mixing up some kind of crazy chemical mixture. You’ll just need to grab some salt and vinegar. That’s right, salt and vinegar make a great chip combo and sort of paste you can use on cabinet stains. You then just need to mix the salt and vinegar together and then get a toothbrush to apply and scrub the solution on the stain.

You can also try putting baking soda onto a soft sponge and using that to scrub out the stain. The key with both the sponge and the toothbrush is to make sure they are really soft. That way you’ll remove the stain without scratching the wood.
